The project in this case mainly involves the replacement of equipment. The construction of new buildings is a rather expensive undertaking. The development of the project for the reconstruction of treatment plants can be carried out in the following directions:

• it is important to follow the rules for the evacuation of employees in case of an emergency (the width of corridors, staircases and doorways depending on the number of personnel);
  
• all technological equipment corresponds to the required capacities.

The substation overhaul project may include:

1. dismantling with the subsequent replacement of equipment elements that have failed;
   
2. dismantling with replacement of damaged devices for the protection of
3. electric current circuits;
   
4. replacement of transformers;
   
5. replacement of automatic switches;
   
6. replacement of electrical wiring both inside and outside;

Before the design stage, it is necessary to carry out an inspection of all the equipment and structure of the TP.

The main requirements for the premises are established for reasons of safe operation.

• the premises must correspond to the l or ll degree of fire resistance;
  
• the width of the passages, the distance from the equipment to the walls is set in accordance with the "Rules for the installation of electrical installations";
  
• double frames are used as window filling;
  
• the ventilation system must cope with the removal of heat emitted by the equipment;
  
• working lighting is provided inside the substation, but also outside the territory;
  
• emergency lighting is provided in premises where it is not allowed to stop work.

The main difficulties and mistakes
with independent design:

1. Lack of an agreed project of the Sanitary Protection Zone (SZZ)
2. Lack of metering devices and objective (calculated) data on the required productivity.
3. Lack of title deeds to the land.
4. Inaccuracies in the preparation of the Terms of Reference: all the necessary studies were not taken into account, the documents listed above were not taken into account.
5. The justification of the price was performed incorrectly, on the basis of commercial proposals of non-specialized organizations, without taking into account the fulfillment of the requirements of technical conditions, the need for inspection of buildings and structures, etc.
6. Surveys, research, and design are performed by different companies, which causes delays and additional work.
